About Our Program
Program Overview
Upward Bound is a grant-funded federal program that provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program includes tutoring, workshops, and cultural opportunities throughout the academic year, as well as a six-week summer program on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University. Students complete step-by-step college preparation, explore career options, and receive training to help prepare them to successfully transition to college and persist in attaining a college degree.
Upward Bound serves qualified high school students from income-eligible families who have the potential to become first-generation college students and demonstrate academic need.
Program Eligibility
To participate in the IWU Upward Bound Program, an individual must be in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade. Students must also meet one or more of the following requirements:

Be a potential first-generation college student

Be from a family that meets the income guidelines set by the federal government

Academic Risk (GPA below 2.5)
