About Our Program
Program Overview
Upward Bound is a grant-funded federal program which provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program includes tutoring, workshops and cultural opportunities throughout the academic year and a six week summer residential program on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University. Students complete step-by-step college preparation, explore career options and receive training to help prepare them to successfully transition to college and persist in attaining a college degree.
Upward Bound serves qualified high school students from income-eligible families, potential first-generation college students, and students who demonstrate academic need.
Program Eligibility
In order to participate in the IWU Upward Bound Program, an individual must be in the 9th, 10th or 11th grade. Students must also meet one or both of the following requirements:

Be a potential first-generation college student

Be from a family that meets the income guidelines set by the federal government

Academic Risk (GPA below 2.5)
